The Cook & Barker Inn
This is another of our favourite places when we’re in the mood for proper, home-cooked food.
Tom’s idea of the perfect rainy Wednesday is remarkably specific: Aberdeen Angus mince & dumpling, fresh vegetables, followed by sticky toffee pudding. Preferably with rain running down the windows outside and absolutely nowhere else we need to be.
Rain on the window, comfort in your tummy. That pretty much sums up the Cook & Barker.
It sits just off the A1, north of Felton, and we’ve often thought that if they had a big sign on the A1 telling everyone they were there, they’d probably be even more popular.
But we’re not telling them that. We quite like being able to get a table.
And perhaps the best recommendation we can give it? It’s one of those places where plenty of the over-70s come for lunch. They’ve had decades to work out where the good food is — we’re following their lead. 😁
