The village wakes gently. Dog walkers drift towards the shore, the first coffee machines begin to hiss into life, and the sea is rarely more than a few minutes away.
If we're planning a walk along the coast, a lazy morning on the beach, or simply passing through, breakfast is almost always where the day begins.
Over the years we've found ourselves returning to the same few places, each for slightly different reasons.
They've become part of our Beadnell routine.
The Landing
Our regular favourite
If someone asked where we'd recommend for breakfast in Beadnell, this would probably be our first answer.
The Landing has that relaxed atmosphere that's surprisingly difficult to find. Nobody seems in a rush, the coffee is consistently excellent, and the welcome always feels genuine.
Our usual order? A bacon and egg bun with coffee. Simple, but when it's done well there's very little that beats it.
One small tip from frequent visitors: if Dan happens to be in the kitchen, you're in for a particularly good breakfast. The quality rarely disappoints, but somehow his always seems to have that little extra something.
Dogs are always made welcome, which instantly earns points with us, and whether you choose to sit inside or outside, it feels like somewhere you're encouraged to linger rather than hurry along.
Prices sit towards the upper end for a café breakfast, although regular visitors can pick up one of their loyalty discount cards, which softens things nicely.
Just across the carpark from Beadnell Bay, it's an ideal place to fuel up before heading for the beach. Opens from 8.30am.
The Courtyard Café
Cosy and dependable
Hidden just off The Haven, The Courtyard has a completely different feel.
It's smaller. Cosier. The sort of café where you immediately hope there's a free table by the window.
Our choice here is usually a full cooked breakfast with a traditional pot of tea rather than coffee.
Service has always been prompt, prices feel fair, and it's another dog-friendly stop that makes planning a morning walk wonderfully easy.
If there's one thing worth mentioning, it's that wet weekends can become busy. Indoor seating is limited, so arriving early is never a bad idea if the weather isn't playing ball.
Edgewater Café
The new arrival with perhaps the best view
Being the newest addition to Beadnell's breakfast scene, Edgewater was naturally busy when we visited.
Its biggest selling point is obvious the moment you sit down. The view. The deck & garden look straight out towards the sea, and on a bright summer morning it's a wonderful place to linger over breakfast.
We ordered a full breakfast with coffee and were impressed by the quality of the ingredients. Everything tasted fresh, generous and well prepared.
Ordering is currently done at the counter, which did create a small queue during our visit. Personally, we'd love to see table service introduced one day, particularly as there appeared to be plenty of staff available.
It wouldn't stop us returning, but it would make an already enjoyable experience even better. Despite being busy, we never felt hurried, something we always appreciate.
Dogs were certainly welcome outside, although we'd recommend checking before bringing them indoors. At the time of writing it's closed on Mondays.
A couple still on our list
There are one or two breakfasts we're still meaning to spend more time with.
Beadnell Towers has a strong reputation, although it's generally considered one of the more expensive options.
We've also heard consistently good things about The Craster Arms, which shares the same ownership as The Landing and enjoys a similarly loyal following.
Both are firmly on our list for future mornings.
Our favourite?
If it were our own money and we could only choose one, we'd still find ourselves walking through the doors of The Landing.
Not because it's perfect. Simply because it feels comfortable.
The coffee is reliably excellent, breakfast is consistently good, Meg always receives a fuss, and Zoe and her team somehow make regulars feel like old friends.
Sometimes that's exactly how you want to begin a Northumberland morning.
